Experience

Organization and esthetics have always been essential to me. I received
a bfa in design from suny Purchase in 1983. For the next 5 years I
worked at studios in Connecticut and New York. I then spent a summer in
Brissago, Switzerland, studying art and design, followed by two
years at Yale, receiving an mfa in 1990. Photography and art history
were a concentration throughout my studies as I am interested in
the way people see and think. From 1990 – 1997 I was a partner in a six
person design firm, Context, Inc., in South Norwalk, Connecticut.
I handled the office finances, directed designers, and designed and
managed print projects for museums, non-profits, hospitals and
corporations. In 1995, I organized a photography and writing workshop
for children at a community center in South Norwalk. I continued
to adapt the curriculum, teaching in a variety of schools and
hospitals, culminating in the development of a 4 year program for teen
mothers.
I created a multi-media presentation and lectured, nationally, to
teachers, social workers, arists and adolescents about communicating
through words and images. I returned to design, in 2000, concen-
trating on books, typography, art and photography. I work primarily
with publishers and museums designing and producing books.
